I'd laugh all the way to my torture chamber if the Secret Service shows up at my door about this post....

Not that I like stealing images from other sites, but I somehow doubt this particular author will mind this borrowing.....

You won't like it...but I'll give you my take. I've got a bit of infamy for always finding and voicing the worst case scenario. A lot of people call me a pessimist, or a cynic--the truth is I'm just Prepared when the worst -does- happen.
George Bush is preparing for serious, serious war. From where I'm standing, it's the ever-looming energy crisis. In forty years, if you and I are still alive, we'll be living in a world that looks like the Apocalypse, because as oil gets exponentially scarcer and energy alternatives fail--the most promising ones are far enough behind that they simply won't become viable in time to prevent it--a society that is completely reliant on it will simply cease to function.
The Bush administration is looking out for the best interests of their own country--and only their own country--by getting ahold of all the fuel resources they can. I won't hazard a guess as to whether they want only to delay the ineveitable, or are actually hoping to amass enough to keep the country running long ehough to fund reliable alternative power source research and restore society as we know it.
The country as it stood before he took the President's chair, and even as it stands today, would never allow the extreme measures that will be -necessary- to make the U.S.A. the impregnable fortress it needs to be to have any hope to survive the wars he WILL be starting, and they're doing an excellent job of transforming the country into a place where nobody has the power to stop him.
Right now, enough of the less intelligent citizens are hypnotized by the illusion of patriotism to out-yell those that aren't fooled, and enough of those who DO realize what is going on are interested enough in their own future--as protected by Bush the Dictator--to avert their eyes.
This leaves the remainder all but powerless to stop the process.
From where I stand, the only way to save the interests of the rest of the world would be the complete eradication of the entire administration, so that there is nobody to step up to take his place, and hope that WHEN somebody steps up to the same platform in the States or any other part of the world, the same is managed.
This would leave the rest of us to suffer through the energy collapse, throwing us back within a generation to the midieval ages without any resources to rebuild the technology we're used to now, perhaps ever.
The alternative is to dig in and wait. George Bush WILL protect the citizens that either follow him or acquiesce quietly, and if he succeeds, the world might well go on with the amenities we're used to, with the near-extinction of the rest of the goddamn planet recorded as little more than a hiccup in the progress of mankind.
Or, he's left to do as he pleases, and fails miserably at it, stealing enough resources to hasten the technological death of the rest of the world at best, and flipping one of the uncounted thousands of planetary or environmental switches that make a global extinction an unpreventable certainty at worst.
....Or else maybe all of the above is just the paranoid rambling of a crazy man whose mind wheels too much.
Oh, by the way, for those of you are are as easily pacified as the American population that's happily sitting through this, here's a picture of a kitty in a shower.
Go back to your morning paper and fucking sitcoms now.
